A warm day of summer was cut by a cold and dominating storm that sent all living creatures for cover. As it passed, sunlight and raindrops mingled, and the ominous scene was transformed into a glowing glory of wonder. (2019)

Arizona's iconic saguaro cacti stand tall against a backdrop of post-sunset pastels. The monthly full moon lays watch over the serene Sonoran desert on a calm and colorful moment of dusk. (2024)

At the foot of Wyoming's Tetons the waning day brings a cast of characters together to mingle for a moment of refreshingly untouched nature. (2017)

The sun made an honorable effort to cut through smoke-filled skies in a haunting moment of morning drama. Seclusion and silence left plenty of space for historic hauntings to fill the scene. (2020)

Evening light painted the canyon’s towering granite walls and glinted off of its smoothest faces. For a moment the stillness was broken by a lone raptor rhythmically carving circles above the dense forest below. It was a soft-spoken scene that came to pass in the splendor of the mountain’s shelter. (2016)

There is a strong feeling of preserved wilderness along this stretch of Sonoran Desert in Arizona. A sea of giant Saguaro cacti are dwarfed in the immensity of the landscape and the intensity of sunset's last light. Such a scene cares little about the latest problems making headlines or the ticking clock that cycles them through. (2016)

The day-long grip of darkness and cold in the Colorado mountains was broken when heaven's light pierced the storm clouds. For mere moments a wash of magenta and orange light painted the snow-capped peaks and sent a shockwave electricity through the air just before sunset called an end to the show, and darkness returned. (2023)

The landscape is always special where mountain and river merge. Few places find them woven together so poetically as they are in northwest Wyoming. (2025)

Yosemite is coveted for its iconic peak-laden walls and the sanctuary of nature sheltered within them. Along the banks of the Merced River the currents transition from free-flowing breaks to nearly stagnant pools that offer crystal clear reflections as divine as the peaks that tower above. (2024)

A day-long streak of cloudy skies was abruptly halted when the sun found an opening in the storm clouds over Sedona. Iconic Cathedral Rock revealed her the glory of her color and character for a brief moments before darkness returned and the day came to a close. (2017)

Contrast is what impacted me in this scene. In the foreground was the calm water of a breathless evening. Not a ripple broke or a sound caused disruption. In the distance, the setting sun illuminated a storm with low rolling rumbles of thunder. These two elements came together creating a unique energy you could feel in the air. (2022)

Winter in the desert means shorter days, the occasional spectacle of snow, and a calm that makes the world feel like it's on pause. Arizona’s Sonoran desert is well known for its heat and long summers, but it has been witness to winter’s magic and temperatures that freeze mountaintops and time. (2019)

After years of field work, slowing down to nature's cadence puts you in constant communication with its subtle whispers. What beauty might be found if we all slowed down and did the same. (2022)

Crisp air accompanied the ripening colors of fall in a scene that epitomized the graceful change of seasons and the height of its visual splendor. (2016)

Silence was broken by hoofbeats thumping the earth as a glint of morning gold splashed the face of the Tetons. Perhaps no place on earth was as American West at that moment. (2017)

Everything in this scene was subtle – the dim morning light, the air moving like a slow river current, the light sounds of unhurried grazing. Nothing was eager to become for it was a western scene where everything seemed content just to be. (2025)
